FOOD / BEVERAGE SAMPLING POLICIES
Sampling and Serving of Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages
Saint Paul RiverCentre retains the exclusive right to provide, control and retail all food and beverage services throughout the facility for events including catering, concessions, novelties, the sale of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and retain any revenues. The exclusive rights are waived for the Minnesota Hospitality Expo, which is of a food and/or beverage nature and is not open to the general public.
Exhibitors may exhibit only merchandise which they normally serve or produce in the ordinary course of their business and may only distribute such quantities that are reasonable in regards to the purpose of promoting the merchandise. Food service exhibitors may distribute food sampling in the contracted areas only and must not be competitive with the food and beverage services offered for sale by the facility’s food and beverage providers.
Exhibitors or show managers are not permitted to bring food, beverage and/or alcoholic beverages for use in their hospitality or backstage areas. In the event that an exhibitor receives permission to distribute food and their product is required to be cooked or heated, they must contact the catering department for arrangements. No one is to use the kitchen or any of the service areas without direct approval and involvement of MHC Culinary Group (exclusive caterer for Saint Paul RiverCentre).
No food or beverage may be brought into the Exclusively Licensed Facilities by exhibitors, vendors, sponsors, or attendees unless such items are specifically permitted by express prior consent of Show Management. Hospitality Minnesota, owner of the Minnesota Hospitality Expo, has retained the required special event food permit from the Minnesota Department of Health, which covers all exhibitors offering samples. A copy of the permit will be available on-site at the Expo. Exhibitors will also be fully responsible for any and all liabilities that may results from the consumption of their products and not MHC Culinary Group, the City of Saint Paul or Hospitality Minnesota.
The following food and beverage items are allowed to be sampled as long as the sampling is compliant with the RiverCentre sampling guidelines:
- Food sample sizes of (1) ounce of less.
Non-alcoholic beverages (sample sizes of (3) ounces of less):
- Coca Cola Products
- Milk products or other dairy-based beverages
- Coffee and Tea
- Frozen or soft-frozen beverages
It is important that you identify with Minnesota Hospitality Expo management what you are sampling. Please contact Exhibit Coordinator Audrey Johnson at (763) 428-8106 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Portable Handwashing Sinks can be rented from companies such as CaterRent or OnSite Sanitation. If sinks require water or drain services, those services must be ordered and paid for from the facility in advance. Saint Paul RiverCentre does not own any portable sinks.
- Gravity Hand Washing Stations include a beverage dispense (portable camping water jugs with a free flowing valve/cambros with a spigot) with a bucket underneath to catch water. The Minnesota Hospitality Expo will provide four gravity hand washing stations throughout the show floor. Click here to see an illustration.
Potentially hazardous foods must be stored in a hot or mechanically cold holding location (ie. electric refrigerator). Coolers are not approved. No crockpots. Gloves, tongs, deli tissue or other means must be utilized when handling ready-to-eat foods.
